Request Excess and Surplus Personal Property for Disaster Relief

Did you know that federal, state and local agencies – and certain non-profit organizations – can request excess or surplus federal property to help with disaster recovery? The disaster-recovery process begins with the initial response and later focuses on restoring, redeveloping, and revitalizing impacted communities. During the last year, GSA has transferred or donated more than $7.1 million in excess and surplus property to support disaster-recovery efforts.

Commonly donated items include:
  • Generators and tools
  • Trucks and forklifts
  • Tents and manufactured housing
  • Boots and clothing
  • Food and water
