November 2022

You’re Invited to Our Event Celebrating Tribal Communities

Join GSA as we honor tribal communities during our online Native Nations Customer Appreciation Symposium on November 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. (ET)! Interagency partnerships strengthen our tribal and Native communities, and GSA will honor these collaborations at this online event. This is no typical training event – we will focus on digging deeper into how GSA can support tribal and Native communities.

During this unique event, you’ll hear from senior leaders at GSA, Department of Commerce, Department of Interior, Department of Health and Human Services, and Department of State as they discuss government programs and initiatives focused on supporting and helping these important tribal and Native communities. You’ll also:
  • Hear customer success stories
  • Learn from an executive panel
  • Have the option to join us for a fireside chat

Certify Your Veteran-Owned Business for Government Contracts

Attention, all entrepreneurs who are veterans! Certify your business to gain access to government contracts through from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) veteran-assistance programs. SBA wants to help give veterans an advantage in the marketplace – that’s why SBA offers a variety of veteran-assistance programs. These help veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses to obtain federal contract awards and even surplus personal property!

Each year, the federal government sets aside a portion of contracting dollars specifically for veteran-owned businesses. If your business is certified to be on GSA contracts, you get access to reliable government customers who appreciate your service.

Your Agency’s Surplus Personal Property Can Help Veteran-Owned Small Businesses

When your agency has personal property it no longer needs, you must report the property to GSA for potential reuse by the government or donation to eligible recipients through the Federal Surplus Personal Property Donation Program. This ensures taxpayer-funded assets can be reused to benefit communities across the country.

One new type of eligible recipient is veteran-owned small businesses! Through a partnership among GSA, the Small Business Administration, and the states, these businesses can acquire needed surplus property to support and grow their business.

If your small business is veteran-owned and you want to receive surplus property, contact your State Agency for Surplus Property to learn how.
